GCG assists clients in evaluating new products.
We also evaluate new equipment system solutions for businesses, by examining productivity gains, increased system availability, and improvements in safety
and ease of use. A particular focus of our work in this area has been the application of proven systems engineering
and human factors engineering principles in facility,
equipment, and job design. We have worked with
the electric utilities to improve plant and equipment
safety practices.
On
behalf of the American Postal Workers Union, we
have contributed to many new design and redesign programs
for computer-based mail processing systems utilized
by the U.S. Postal Service, as well
as to the implementation of OSHA-mandated medical monitoring
and safety practices. We have worked with Interpipe
Equipment to improve product development and manufacturing
methods associated with custom trucks. We have worked
with Milacron Corp. to improve safeguarding methods
and warnings for machining centers. We have worked
with Terex Corp. to improve warnings for mining equipment.
We also have
worked with Famous-Barr, a division of the May Department
Stores, to improve merchandise display methods.
Dr. Gomer was selected by the U.S.
Justice Department to conduct a large-scale, historical review of design
requirements for warning labels. As part of this contracted program with the
Justice Department, he evaluated the effectiveness of warning labels to modify
unsafe behavior in the workplace. Dr.
Gomer also has contributed
to improvements in safeguarding methods, warning labels, and safety-related instructions for machining
centers and machine tools.
By building upon Dr. Gomer's engineering
and operations experience
as a member of senior management at Honeywell and the Network Connection, GCG has assisted clients in developing strategic business and product plans, in assessing the viability of acquisition and merger candidates, and in developing company integration, restructuring, and turnaround plans.
